Jack''s Obituary was in the paper today but there was a problem with them getting the one written for him printed. Since only the generic one is in the paper I thought I''d post what it was supposed to say on here,
Jackson Prentice Carter, the beloved son of Casey and Miranda Carter of Douglasville went home to be with his Lord and Master at 10:20 AM on NOvember 21, 2007. His five week battle to live came to an end quietly and peacefully in the arms of his parents. He was born too soon and was too small to continue on with his struggle to survive. Before his birth on October 17, 2007 he had large numbers of people praying for his wellbeing. After his arrival, he became well known at Kennestone Hospital NICU and then at Scottish Rite NICU as "Little Jack" He touched many lives and taught them the power of prayer and the Love of our Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Not many people can accomplish God''s plan for their life in just 5 weeks. Surely, Jack was cradled close in God''s arms and heard those wonderful words: "Well done, my good and faithful servant," when he arrived there.
Jackson is survived by his parents, Grandparents: Harry and Marti Carter of Douglasville and Cy and Cathy Chapman of Marietta, Great Grandparents: Mrs Hazel Echols of Douglasville, Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Masters of Pickens SC, Pauline Chapman of Marietta and Jan Morgan of Marietta, Aunts and Uncles: Shawn and Richelle Carter, Cassie Carter, Isaac Carter, and Rus and Amy Chapman, as well as many cousins and great aunts and uncles.
Services will be held at Winkenhoffer Funeral Home at Pineridge Cemetery on Sunday November 25, 2007 at 3:00 PM. Visitation is Saturday evening there from 6PM to 9PM.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Children''s Hospitals of Atlanta.
Jack passed away this morning, his tiny body was just worn out. Please continue to pray for Casey and Miranda and family. We thank God for the days that we got to spend with Little Jack and take comfort in the fact that Jack is with him now.
Little Jack really needs your prayers, He is struggling with a lot of things tonight. We need to pray that his PH level gets out of the acidic range quickly so that it won''t cause anymore harm to his organs. Also pray for his respiratory system so that he can get off the oscillator before it causes anymore lung damage. On the lighter side he did have a better heart rate tonight but he is having a lot of problems. Thank you for your prayers he really needs them.
Please Pray for better results for with the new ventilator, his blood gases are not looking good. He isn''t getting enough ventilaltion with the new ventilator even though the monitor reading seem to be better. Please continue to pray for the little guy to pull through all of this.
Things change so quickly with our little guy! This morning a doctor came in and told Miranda that Jack was not going to make it through the day. The Pee Pee we were so proud of doesn''t mean that his kidneys are really working:there simply is so much fluid in his body this urine was just forced through. Another doctor came in and they decided to try a few things--apparently they worked because Jack is now off of the oscillator and on a regular ventilator. He''s doin well on it for now. The oscillator kept his lungs so over inflated and larger than they should be in order to help with a problem he was having--the lungs being so big is keeping his little heart from being able work right--his heart need to beat right to get the kidneys working. So, please pray that all of these things come together so that we don''t lose our little one! I for one, refuse to believe that he''s going to do anything, but get better now! Thank you for your prayers!
Last night was really rough, but as usual God drew us closer to Him and saw us and Jack through the night. Miranda''s face was a wonderful sight to see when she came through the waiting room door smiling and celebrating that Casey had found peepee in the catheter tube! You''ve never seen Grandparents jump up so high and fast! We clapped and cried. Let''s see how excited we are about wet diapers in a few months! But that was a truely joyous occassion. Then a few minutes later Miranda was back with the announcement that the nurse had been able to finally get a blood pressure reading. She called me a few minutes ago to update and said that his kidneys are still working. His blood pressure is up and down, so we need to pray for that to stabalize. Also he is still maxed out on all of the oscillator settings. Please pray that his lungs are able to start working more on their own and that he can be weaned of of this machine! Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts!
Little Jack''s condition is still critical, but we praise God for a little pee tonight. We are trusting and believing in God''s perfect plan for Jack''s life ,whatever it may be.Please continue to pray for kidney function, lungs, heart, and weening from the oscillator.
We just want everyone to know how much we appreciate your prayers, support and love! I haven''t heard an update this morning as Miranda and Casey are sleeping in a little today! (yeah!) Last night at around 11PM our little fighter was doing well. They were actually weaning him off of his o2 some. His vitals looked great and the nurses were very impressed with him. One nurse told us that we can still expect the preemie cha cha (2 steps forward, 2 back) to go on, but that this succesful surgery should really put him on the right road. Today''s prayers should please focus on urinary output, healing of the incisions, infection and overall wellbeing of Jack and his parents. Once again thanks so much for your prayers and love!
We thank God for answering all the prayers that were prayed for little Jack.He was able to tolerate the surgery today.
Tonight little Jack''s urgent prayer needs are for three things:an increase in kidney function,a decrease in infection level, and blood pressure stability. Please dilligently pray for these things ,in particular, and for our precious little Jack ,in general.
Little Jack had a rough night, respiratory wise.He is in need of prayer for the respiratory problems he is experiancing.Tomorrow''s surgery is still on the schedule,so please be in prayer about that, too.

Jesus, tender shepard hear me.
Bless and keep your child today.
Though my arms cannot enfold him,
May your love guard all the way.
Jesus, tender shepard hear me.
For my tiny child today,
You have power to deliver,
You will lead us all the way.

I do trust my child to thee.
I do not understand the trial,
But your love does comfort me.
An Evening Prayer
by Mrs. M.L. Duncan
Jesus, tender shepard hear me.
Bless thy little lamb tonight.
Through the darkness be thou near him.
Keep him safe till morning light.
Casey and Miranda talked with the pediatric surgeon tonight.Little Jack is scheduled for surgery on Thursday ,(they want to "fatten him up" before the surgery),unless they see a need to do it sooner. Please continue to pray for Jack!!!
Keep Jack in your prayers today, he is having an upper GI series at Scottish Rite. On a side note, I had the chance to see him for the first time yesterday and he is the most beautiful and amazing little baby, it is hard to describe how perfect he looks, just tiny!
Little Jack got to go on his first "ride" today. Miranda was proudly taking pictures of the ambulance as it made it''s way to Scottish Rite. Luckily, visiting hours are the same as Kennestone and Miranda and Casey can be there almost anytime. Jack seemed to handle the trip well. It will be several days before any big procedures are done. They want to familiarize themselve with him first. Miranda seemed quite pleased with the staff so far. Please pray that they can find the problem and fix it soon so that Little Jack can get to work on gaining weight!
Jack will be transferring to Scottish Rite tomorrow. They were unable to complete the test at Kennestone. He is just too small for their equipment. He will either be there for a few days after the test or have surgery and be there for 6 weeks. We know that our good Father is in control and is doing what is best for Jack. Thank you all for your prayers. Please continue to pray.
Sometime today they will take Jack down to Radiology to perform some tests on his digestive system. The good news is that if there are no physical findings that would require surgery then the diagnostic procedures can be the fix for his problem. They think that more than likely the entire problem is a very immature bowel combined with a meconium impaction.--in other words he''s very constipated to the point of blockage. Please pray that nothing will be found which would require surgery. Other than this little Jack looks great today and has been resting well. He''s been up to his usual tricks of dropping his respirations and heart beats down low enough to set off the alarm just long enough to get the nurses to come pay attention to him. He''s a real pistol!
